tell your rup story

Help us create records for the writing of the history of the Chicano Movement and the Raza Unida Party.

We ask everyone attending the National RUP reunion to help us create and collect records for the writing of the history of the Chicano Movement and the Raza Unida party. Although many publications are available, a full account of our history cannot be written until we collect the necessary records and make them accessible to researchers through university archives. You can participate in this important initiative by doing the following:

1. Fill out a questionnaire that we will make available to you;

2. Provide name and contact information of a family member that the staff of the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin can train by zoom to interview you;

3. With the assistance of this trained family member, prepare a long biographical interview (2-3 hours) and a short memory interview (7-10 minutes);

4. Provide materials from your personal archival collection that we can scan at the Reunion; and

5. Consent to transfer copyrights for educational purposes of the questionnaire, interviews and archival materials to the Center for Mexican American Studies.

If you are interested in participating, contact Emilio Zamora, [email protected], 512 739-0168. He will provide additional information and answer questions that you may have.
